A San Diego Padres 2010 promotion will have fans saving up to $5,000 on food, drink, guest rooms, spa treatments, fitness club memberships, weddings and most everything else available at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego.
It’s part of the “2010 Grand Hyatt Grand Slam,” a promotion that rewards Padres fans with 50 percent off expenditures of up to $10,000 at the waterfront Hyatt when they present a ticket from a home game won by the Padres with either a walk-off home run or a grand slam.
Fans will save 30 percent at the Hyatt when they present a ticket from any victorious Padres home game and 10 percent when they present a ticket from any home-game lost by the Padres.
A walk-off home run is a home run that ends the game because it gives the home team the lead in the bottom of the final inning of the game (and consequently, the win) —either the ninth inning, or any extra inning, or any other regularly scheduled final inning. Because the teams walk off the field immediately afterward, it is called a “walk-off” home run.
A grand slam is a home run hit when all three bases are occupied.
