Visiting Valletta, The Beautiful Maltese Capital

Malta is an independent island nation in the Mediterranean. The country has an area of about 316 square kilometers. It consists of the following regions: Malta, Gozo, Comino and some islands that are not inhabited as well. The island state is a popular destination in Europe and famous for its a lot of temples, prehistoric archaeological sites, caves and plenty festivals, which are held in honor of the patron saint of Malta.

The capital of Malta is Valletta with about 10000 inhabitants, also the smallest EU capital. It is situated in the north and is surrounded by a ring of bastions, which served the city for defense. A visit to the city is an absolute must. The old fortress tower over the city was built by the Knights of St John who planned the city as a refuge to take care of injured soldiers and pilgrims during the Crusades in the fifteen hundreds.

After the successful battle against the Ottomans in 1565 the fortress walls formed the foundation for a fully designed city. Even today, Valletta has lost none of its former charm. Holidaymakers can have a kilometer long city walk completely as it is just one kilometer long and 500 feet wide. But these numbers do not diminish the attractiveness of Valletta. On the contrary tourists can fully discover Valletta by walking and not get lost. Cars must remain mainly outside.

Valletta is a UNESCO World Heritage and is popular for its historic cafés, restaurants, banks, hotels and government buildings. Continue Reading

Touring England By Car – How to Travel the UK By Car

If you really want to see England and all it has to show, the best way is by car. Driving across the UK means traveling at your desired speed and selecting your own itinerary. Your itinerary is for a journey from your cheap hotel deals in Brighton to the UK’s North East, and it should get your mouth watering. I’ve chosen this journey due to the way the landscape changes, from sea to sea and city to village.

Day One- Start in the south coastal area of Brighton. Brighton is a wonderful city with a Pavilion, funfair and pier. Exit the hotel one morning and travel through the coast on the A27. An ideal area to hold up to have lunch is Portsmouth, with its famous Spinnaker Tower and all the great eateries at Gunwharf Quays. Travel back to the highway and go on it until Southampton, from which you’ll change to the A36. This road can take you up to the historic area of Salisbury, with its impressive medieval castle.

2nd Day- Leave Salisbury via the A360 then get onto the A303. This route will lead to a site all must see once, the mysterious and striking Stonehenge. From here, you’ll go west, pass Warminster, and head into Bath. Bath has some of the ruins of the Roman baths, some of the UK’s most wonderful classical architecture. From here, take the A46 and A433 north and you’ll arrive in the Cotswolds. Tetbury and Cirencester are two towns that have a lot of nice motels and budget hotel chains for a night’s stay.
