One&Only Cape Town is offering three nights for the price of two

The One&Only Cape Town is offering three nights for the price of two, complementing its new ‘Winelands Tour’ of the region’s premier wineries.

Until 30 September 2010, the rate of R5,100 a night is discounted to just R3,400 with the additional night promotion, including breakfast. From 1 October – 19 December 2010 the discount reduces the high season rate of R5,950 a night to R3,960.

Situated on Cape Town’s fashionable Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, with panoramic views across to Table Mountain, One&Only Cape Town is one of the most luxurious hotels in this region of South Africa. Wine lovers can now benefit from a new Winelands Tour bookable through the resort, with prices starting from R3,000.

The magnificent scenery, award-winning wines and gourmet cuisine of the Western Cape Winelands is an experience not to be missed. The Winelands stretch from the outskirts of Cape Town to the semi-desert plains of the Little Karoo and most notably include the wine farms of Stellenbosch, Paarl, Wellington and Franschhoek (all between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours by car from Cape Town). No less than 560 wineries in the Western Cape region pay testament to South Africa’s appreciation of fine wines. This area is also renowned for its distinctive Cape-Dutch architecture, which dates back to the early 18th century. Read more…

Siesta-Key: A Night Out

If you’re looking for an exciting and rich night out, Siesta Key will surely deliver that for you. The Key offers numerous options for the perfect night out with your family or a few friends. For many, it’s the ideal spot to just sit back and relax after a long day in the sun. Everyone can enjoy a variety of live music and events that most hot spots offer throughout the year, letting you enjoy your vacation without reserve.

Live music can be heard almost always throughout Siesta Key and just about anywhere else on the Key. Bikini contests aren’t that uncommon either, who knows it might be your lucky day. Additionally most bars and pubs are themed with the island atmosphere in mind, so that anywhere you go you’re constantly reminded that you’re in our little slice of paradise. Most of these points of interest are located nearby some of the best Siesta Key hotels.

You’ll find that Siesta-Key Village is one of the most popular places to go after the sun sets. In fact, many Sarasota residents love to spend their nights on Siesta-Key enjoying all the festivities. One of the most visited spots is called the “Daiquiri Deck” and as the name implies, it offers an amazing selection of daiquiris.

During the year, and mostly between the spring and summer time, the Daiquiri Deck is home to some of the best parties and even some bikini contests. Volleyball tournaments are also very popular, along with a few block parties. Unlike most other nearby attractions, the Daiquiri Deck is open for extended hours making it the party-goers go-to spot.

Something that you may immediately notice about Siesta-Key night life is that it is much more relaxed. This really makes it ideal for any vacationer, mostly because it is on an island. While it may be a quieter night out then you’re used to, it’s still a fun time nonetheless.

However, if you’re in dire need of a louder time, a short trip over the Stickney Point Bridge and into the Gulf Gate area will open up a whole new gateway for you. You’ll find many more traditional bars there and if that doesn’t fit your fancy you can always go to Downtown Sarasota for many more options.

Siesta-Key Beach Hotels are amongst the most popular places to stay when people visit Siest-Key. Which Siesta Key hotel will you choose for your visit?

VW Campervan Development

From its birth in 1950 until today the VW Campervan has maintained cult status in the motoring world.

Introduced in March 1950 the Volkswagen Transporter and Microbus versions has highly-developed into a iconic motoring classic across generations and countries.
It has been developed into numerous uses and variations of body types. The most famous is the VW Campervan or VW Camper.

What is not so widely known is the huge variety of interiors that have been manufactured and developed over these decades. Individuals through to large companies have all been involved in developing what was originally a box on 4 wheels.

In May 1951 a Volkswagen bus with chassis number 20-13280 was delivered to a Dresden coach constructor with instructions to change it into a camper van. It was constructed with a bench seat behind the bulkhead which hinged up to show a built in sink and a two burner cooker. It was installed with a sink but no tap but it did have a petrol heater.  It had a number of storage units made out of oak. This VW became known as the “Barn door bus” and had a intriguing life with many owners including a fire chief who used it during the week to pull water pumps about and at weekends it became his family campervan.

Edit this text This number of uses has been the major feature of the VW Campervan over the past generations. The “Barn door Bus” was purchased and taken to the UK in 2002 where it is still going strong today. This Volkswagen campervan typifies the mystique and cult of the Campervan as it is not stored away in a garage or displayed in a museum. It is still doing the function it was developed for over 50 years ago.

VW Campervan interiors have been the subject of much competition between makers. Companies such as Westfalia and Devon Camping Conversions Auto Sleeper and many more have devised a whole range of fixtures and fittings for these popular vans.

Over the years the Volkswagen Campervan has gone through a number of make overs and redesigns.Long gone is the van concept wherebay the inside is removed for use as a working van during the week and re installed at the weekend to fulfil its role as a family campervan.Modern VW Campervans are equiped with TV, showers, fridges, satelite navigation and much more. The rustic camping concept has long gone in favour of modern every day life.

This change has brought about a new group of vw owners who are now putting large sums of money into a luxury leisure pursuit. However some owners prefer the rough and ready style of camping which has led to a rise in popularity of the older models. So much so that the Bay Window model is manufactured today in its original design but not by Volkswagen itself. These vans have only had the most essential upgrading for modern safety standards but to all outward apperance they look and feel like a traditional VW Campervan.

This shows the VW Enthusiast exists today and the model will carry on for many years to come as an every day useable classic motor vehicle.
